Death Cycle could best be described as a non-linear revenge slasher.

After a brutal hit and run on Abby (Kaster) and her sister that involved the very wealthy Sullivan family, members of the family are now being hunted down. Journalist Luca (Ninaber) comes to town after his brother is killed, whilst his skittish sister Caterina (Ormond) wants him to investigate and find out just who has it in for the Sullivan family.

Luca gets to interview Abby and it is in this conversation that we get numerous flashbacks to moments that the killer, a motorcycle rider dressed all in black, slaughters various members of the Sullivan family with a variety of gruesome methods.

Gabe Carrer hits the giallo styling hard for Death Cycle and it works. The action on screen hits all the right notes, the killer and kills are stylish, the kills at times get particularly graphic, as anyone who has seen Carrer’s previous film For The Sake Of Vicious knows. The plot however does not really follow the giallo style, it is fairly straight forward and that’s not a criticism. You know who the killer is and why. There doesn’t need to be crazy twists and it is refreshing to have a point A to point B plot.

The acting is all good, even if most of the characters are just stereotyped outlines. Kaster and Ninaber get the most to do and their acting, especially in the interview scenes are great.

The music from Foxgrindr, Jacob Lizotte and Bonnie Trash in the film is great. Huge doom laden synth moments and then some get guitar riffs set the mood.

Death Cycle doesn’t do anything you haven’t seen before but it does create its own kind of rhythm that draws you into the film. If you want great visuals, great music, gory kills and a straight forward plot, Death Cycle should be on your radar.
