Yes, you read that right…. Friday the 13th is coming to TV….

With many films already under his hockey mask, and with yet another film in the pipeline for next year, Jason Voorhees is ready to slash his way into your living rooms according to Deadline.

Canadian and US fans of the franchise may remember a TV series back in the late 1980’s that ran for three seasons. This new series is reported to be made up of hour-long episodes set at the infamous Crystal Lake and will be a re-imagining of the story of the Vorhees family over multiple time periods, in a script by Bill Basso (Terminator) and Jordu Schell (Avatar).

Sean S. Cunningham, who helmed the 1980 original and will be one of the executive producers of the series, said “Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide.” Robert Barsamian, head of Horror Inc and another of the producers of the series added, “Expect the show to take viewers in some exciting new directions that we’re confident will not only excite existing fans of Friday The 13th but also attract new audiences to the situations and characters that inhabit the small town of Crystal Lake.”

We’ll bring you further news on developments, and whether it will be coming to the UK, as we get it.
