THE 7TH EDITION OF CABANE À SANG FILM FESTIVAL KICKS OFF ON MAY 8

Cabane à Sang presents its biggest edition to date, from May 8 to May 12 in Montreal, adding a fifth evening of festivities.

Not counting submissions to the Party Pooper competition, 70 short films were selected this year, including more than 25 Canadian premieres. In addition to a 100% Quebec-made evening, audiences will be treated to films from the four corners of the globe, including Iran, Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Paraguay, Norway, the Netherlands and even Japan. The festival will close with its new program dedicated to animation: (RE)Animation.

‘We all grew up watching cartoons on weekends, so launching (RE)Animation, our new program, was a no-brainer. The only difference is that this screening is absolutely not for kids’ laughs Frank Appache, festival director.

Five evenings of eclectic screenings

Cabane à Sang festivities kick off on Wednesday, May 8 at 6 p.m. at the L’Espace Public factory (2287, av. Letourneux), where the evening kicks off with a networking event before the Sci-Fi program, presented free of charge in partnership with Solotech.

On Thursday, May 9, starting at 7 p.m., Keep it Weird! will be serving up its most colorful and bizarre finds of the year at Bistro Le Ste-Cath (4264, rue Sainte-Catherine E.).

On Friday, May 10, the Mixed Meats program will offer its traditional cinematic hash to fans of genre cinema at 7 p.m. at L’Ancien Marché Maisonneuve ( 4375 Ontario St. E.) An emblematic and always festive evening of the festival.

On Saturday May 11, during its 100% Quebec-made evening, the festival will present the latest batch of its Party Pooper Spectacular competition at L’Ancien Marché Maisonneuve, starting at 7pm. This year’s theme: “TV goes bad”. Prepare to see it all.

Finally, the new animation program for adults: (RE)Animation, will close the festivities on May 12 at 7pm at Bistro Le Ste-Cath. Full program details are available on the Cabane à Sang website.
