SYNOPSIS:
Four hundred years ago, vampires fled Europe and settled in Indochina, only to be hunted down until few remained. To survive undetected, the remaining vampires created a strict law: “Kill no humans unless they know.” In present-day Saigon, NHAT, a young vampire, lives among the Daydreamers, a secluded community that believes suppressing their thirst for human blood may one day restore their humanity. But when his long-lost brother, MARCO, returns with tales of vampires thriving among humans, Nhat is tempted by a freer existence. He breaks his mother’s dying promise and follows Marco into the glamorous nightlife of Saigon, where he meets HA, a rebellious schoolgirl who stumbles upon his secret– defying the vampire law. Nhat develops a connection, thus chooses to protect her. But their escape is complicated by TRIEU, Marco’s ruthless vampire queen, who orders their execution. As chaos erupts—the Daydreamers exposed, the city turning against them—Nhat and Marco face off in a final, heartbreaking battle. One brother embraces the monster within, while the other fights to hold on to his last shred of humanity.

Set in modern-day Saigon, DAYDREAMERS follows Nhat, a young vampire raised in a secretive riverboat community that suppresses its thirst for human blood. When his estranged brother Marco returns, tempting him with freedom in the city’s nightlife, Nhat breaks vampire law to protect a rebellious girl who uncovers his secret—sparking a deadly chain of events. As chaos erupts, DAYDREAMERS delivers a genre-blending, emotionally charged twist on vampire mythology with stunning visual effects and a powerful story of loyalty, identity, and survival.

As one of the first vampire films to emerge from Vietnam, DAYDREAMERS marks a bold new milestone in the country’s genre cinema—blending horror, fantasy, and thriller into a wholly original cinematic world. It stars an all-Vietnamese cast, including global icon Chi Pu (plays Trieu), a singer and actress with over 20 million followers, and rising talents Trinh Thao (plays Ha), Thuan Nguyen (plays Marco), and Tran Ngoc Vang (plays Nhat). Arriving at the start of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the film offers a powerful opportunity to spotlight acclaimed Vietnamese American filmmaker Timothy Linh Bui, who brings Vietnamese-language storytelling to U.S. theaters—including cities with large Vietnamese diaspora audiences.
