Review:
This movie is about a group of college friends who meet up at a friend’s house before a wedding. There are nine people in the group: Cyrus, Shelby, Nikki, Forbes, Reuben, Beatrice, Dennis, Brooke, and Maya. When Forbes, a.k.a. the guy who’s been off the radar for a while, shows up, things get weird. He brings this suitcase with a device that lets them swap bodies. They’re like, “Sure, let’s try it,” and it starts out kinda fun—everyone laughing and messing around. But then it flips fast. People start airing out old drama, secrets come up, and it’s chaos.

Honestly, the movie itself is refreshing. It’s not a typical movie you see while TV streaming on a typical day. The concept of swapping bodies isn’t new, but the way they do it here feels different. Since this is a horror-sci-fi-comedy film, I think they balanced it out perfectly  you’re laughing one minute, then creeped out the next (although of course, that will depend on your humor. For me, I found several scenes funny but my friends weren’t laughing.)

It’s not over-the-top with any one part, which I liked—it just flows. The first real problem hits when they don’t all swap back right away. Forbes is running the show with this device. Well, he’s got his own agenda. It gets messy real fast. You can feel the tension when Shelby, the one who’s already nervous enough for the wedding, realizes she’s stuck in someone else’s body longer than she signed up for. There’s also Cyrus and Nikki who have this flirty history, and once they’re in different bodies, old feelings start complicating things.

I would really wish that this movie would be available on other platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Dish TV, Disney+, and many more because more people deserve to see this film.

The cinematography of the movie was honestly pretty cool. I think the way they used lights around the mansion made everything feel alive but also kinda off, like something’s not right. When the swaps happen, the camera gets all shaky and close-up, so you’re right there with them feeling confused and freaked out. If you have motion sickness, you might get uncomfortable at times, especially when the scene is zoomed in. But overall, the cinematography was superb. I literally wish that this movie would be available on more streaming services.

For the cast’s acting, my favorite character would be Cyrus (James Morosini) because he creeped me out, literally. I mean, he looks fine but then I felt like there was something deeper hidden inside him that I can’t pinpoint. However, as the swaps kept happening, he got weirder and more unhinged. James Morosini played him so well—I couldn’t tell if I was supposed to like him or be scared of him. Without giving it all away, let’s just say Cyrus isn’t who you think he is, and when you find out what’s really going on with him and Forbes, it’s like, “Whoa, okay, that’s dark.” It made me rethink everything he did the whole movie.

The Bottom Line
It’s What’s Inside is a good sci-fi horror movie that offers something new to the table. It’s a pleasant watch that isn’t too difficult or uncomfortable to watch. The body-swap idea was executed smartly so it’s easy to sit through at under two hours. This movie is worth a shot for those who like a little weirdness and creepiness.
