Well, 2024 is nearly in the books, so we will look back on our favourites of this year. Early in 2024, Stopmotion hit us, and Aisling Franciosi once again put in an astonishing performance. In April, Dead Mail surprised, turning a strange story about a dead letter detective into a dread filled noir-horror. At the end of April, The Coffee Table shocked, horrified, and even made us nervously giggle at its cruelty.
June saw sharks munch people in the city of lights in Under Paris, Strange Darling gave us a different kind of serial killer film, and Oddity proved to be one of the best horror films of this (and maybe quite a few previous) year. Red Rooms tapped into another aspect that is entwined with horror films with true crime obsession.
There were many more interesting films this year, and honestly, if we were to list them all, it would almost be a book.
* – This list doesn’t include Nosferatu because at the time of writing, it hadn’t been released.
